We have been making clothes the same way for centuries. But what if you were to rethink the whole process? This is what Fabian Briels does with ‘Digital Anatomy’. He creates new garments using lasers as needles and silicone as thread. A 2D digital pattern is laser-engraved into an acrylic sheet and silicone is injected into the grooves. Once set, the flat mesh can be lifted from the sheet and draped into a 3D top. Seams are sealed instead of stitched and there is zero waste.
